  Original HP line counter was non-serviceable, battery died at two years old. Found a Scotty replacement counter that uses a replaceable AAA battery, so battery failure, which usually happens at the most inopportune times, can easily be fixed with a new, inexpensive AAA battery compared to a new non-serviceable counter that costs $74.95 every couple of years. Fish 307 shipped the new counter to me very quickly, meaning I only had to use the downrigger without a counter for one day of fishing. Replacement of the counter was quick and easy, problem solved!
